CAC FACTS & NOMINATING INFORMATION
Q. What is the role of the Community Advisory Committee (CAC)?
A. The CAC is a 31-member body who share a commitment to improving health care and whose role is to (a) advise the Foundation Board regarding overall policy direction and adherence to the mission, (b) serve as a link with the citizens of the Commonwealth and (c) nominate new members to the Foundation Board. Under the Bylaws, its membership is to be diverse, with broad consumer and community participation.
Q. Who may nominate and who may serve?
A. Any Kentuckian may nominate themselves or another Kentuckian to serve, and may nominate more than one person. According to the Bylaws, CAC members "shall be residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky Kentuckians who have demonstrated their interest in health care and in the charitable mission of the Corporation."
Q. How does the nomination process work?
A. A Nominating Committee will review all nominations and recommend nominees for a vote by the CAC. The CAC Nominating Committee consists of two Foundation Board members, two CAC members, a citizen chair and two citizens appointed by the Chair. The Foundation is currently accepting nominations for vacancies on the CAC - the deadline for receipt of nominations is postmark by August 6, 2007. Click here to view/print a copy of the Nomination Form (PDF).
Q. How often does the CAC meet?
A. The CAC will meet three to four times a year, including an annual meeting and forum and a joint meeting with the Foundation Board.
